EARLY SKYTHIANS, Imitating Eukratides I of Baktria. Late 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 15.21 g, 12 h). Diademed and draped bust of Eukratides to right, wearing Macedonian helmet adorned with bull's horn and ear. Rev. BVΣIΛEΩΣ MEΓAΛOΥ / EIKATIΔOΥ The Dioskouri galloping to right, each holding spear and palm frond; to lower right, monogram. Cf. Bopearachchi 6 (for prototype). HGC 12, 150. An attractive imitation of charmingly crude style. Some scratches and with minor flan faults on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
